Highlights: Sachem North 42, Brentwood 6: Unbeaten Sachem North won its 10th game for the first time in school history in a Division I semifinal at North on Friday night. The Flaming Arrows scored 28 points in the second quarter to break the game open despite windy, rainy conditions. Davon Lawrence ran for 111 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown run. Mike Andreassi added 82 yards and two touchdowns while Jesse Scanna caught two TD passes from Angelo Armine and ran for a third score. Sachem North plays the winner of Saturday’s Lindenhurst-Floyd game next Sunday at 6 p.m. at Stony Brook. Brentwood finished 5-5.

Angelo Armine had 11 carries for 150 yards and a touchdown. Jesse Scanna had nine solo tackles and two assists and added a touchdown. Mike Andreassi had 16 carries for 81 yards and added seven solo tackles and three assists.

Highlights: Sachem North 47, Commack 7: Senior Devon Lawrence ran for 257 yards on 11 carries and scored a career-high five touchdowns to lead Sachem North (8-0) in Division I. “From the second time he touched the ball” he knew Lawrence was going to have a big day, coach Dave Falco. “He’s an excellent athlete…and the credit goes to the offensive line. They really came together as a group.” Lawrence, at 6’2 and 210 lbs., is a force on the gridiron and “not easy to take down,” Falco said. With the win, Sachem North takes its first Division championship since 2000. Jesse Scanna and Mike Andreassi added ten tackles apiece to lead the defense. North will likely take the one seed and play eight in the first round of the playoffs. “We’re going to put this behind us,” said Falco. “A new season starts. Everyone is 0-0 and everything you did before doesn’t matter. You survive and advance or loose and go home.”

Highlights: Sachem North 42, Brentwood 41: Joe Kirchner led a gang tackle of Darius Allison on a two-point conversion try with 3:05 remaining to preserve the lead for Sachem North (5-0), which had led 35-14 in this Division I thriller at North. Brentwood (3-2) rallied behind quarterback Alex Corporan who was 30-for-49 for 342 yards and two touchdowns. Corporan also ran for two touchdowns, getting injured each time. On the second one, he was unable to play QB or kick the PAT so Brentwood had to go for the win instead of the tie. The Flaming Arrows were unstoppable on the ground, with four players totaling 359 yards, led by Mike Andreassi, who carried 19 times for 150 yards and one touchdown.

It was Floyd's first regular season loss in eight seasons, according to Sachem North coach Dave Falco. Floyd tied the score at 14 with 3:03 left on a two-point conversion run by Kevin Lacey. Sachem North took the ensuing kickoff at the 30 and drove to the 13-yard line to setup the game-winning 30-yard field goal by Travis Nardello with 2.1 seconds left. Sachem North, then still a combined school, last beat beat Floyd in 2000, Falco said. Linebacker Jesse Scanna led Sachem North with 12 tackels, two for loss.
