The Indians (18-3) moved past Clarence (Section VI), 2-0, Saturday afternoon in the state Class AA boys soccer semifinals at the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Hancell Guevara scored in the 54th minute off a pass from Frank Guzman, and Andrew Jean-Baptiste added another goal on a shot in the box with just under three minutes left. Brentwood will play Newburgh Free Academy (Section IX) in the state final at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Newburgh defeated Shenendehowa (Section II), 2-0, in the other semifinal. The win was the second for the Indians over Clarence (15-4-1) in two years. Brentwood beat them in the state final last year, 2-1.

Thompson scored in the 2nd minute and Harvey Houpe had a goal in the 74th minute to lead Center Moriches to a 2-0 win over Grover Cleveland (Section VI) in the state Class B boys soccer semifinals Saturday at the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Thompson knocked in his goal off a corner kick from James Whelan. Houpe forced a turnover and scored on a breakaway late in the game to seal it. Peter Altman made five saves for the Red Devils. Center Moriches (17-3-1) will play Marcellus (Section III) in the state final at 11:40 a.m. Sunday. It will be the Red Devils’ first state title game appearance since 2006. Marcellus defeated Broadalbin-Perth (Section II), 2-0, in the other semifinal.

Archbishop Molloy (Queens) 1, St. Anthony's 1: (Molloy wins 4-1 in shootout). Sebastian Altomarino clinched it in the shootout for Molloy (11-0-4) in the CHSAA state semifinals at Adelphi Friday night. Dane Kenny scored in the shootout for St. Anthony's (16-4-1). Andrew LoManto put the Friars up 1-0 in the 21st minute on a free kick from 18 yards over Molloy goaltender Joseph Ruocco. Greg Davis tied it the 47th minute on a penalty kick against Friars backup goaltender Jon Weiss. Weiss replaced starter Kevin Hayes for the kick when Hayes was given a yellow card for taking down Davis on a breakaway in the box. Molloy will play Iona Prep for the CHSAA state title at 3 p.m. Sunday at Adelphi.

Smithtown Christian's Jesse Eyoma scored off an assist from Brett Muller, 30 minutes into the second half to put SC ahead 2-1.

James Whelan scored twice, with his first goal off a throughball from Harvey Houpe 12 minutes into the game as Center Moriches topped Rye Neck (Section I), 2-1, in the Class B Southeast Regional final at Arlington High School. Center Moriches (16-3-1) advances to the Class B state championships in Oneonta beginning Friday. "That was a huge goal," Center Moriches coach Chris O'Brien said of Whelan's first goal. "We are 16-0 when we score first and 0-3 when we don't score first." Whelan's second goal came off a feed from Derek Bennett in the 51st minute and gave the Red Devils a 2-0 lead. "It's important for us to score first, because it gives that killer instinct," O'Brien added.
