The Rams (24-3-1) will play the winner of Aquinas Institute (Section V) and Mexico Academy (Section III) for the state title at 4 p.m. Saturday at Broome CC.

Highlights: Chris Ammann set a new Suffolk record in the pentathlon with a score of 3,620. The previous record-holder was Greg Santiago of Brentwood (2000). His score was 3,592. Ammann finished second to Patric McLaughlin of Oneida, who posted a score of 3,627. Jason Santos placed fourth in the public schools Division I championship and the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:34.46). He finished fifth in the Federation.

Emily Norell added two goals and one assist and was named tournament MVP. Garden City matched its own record of four straight titles, which it set from 1999-2002, and now has a record 10 state titles. Lauren Terracciano, Shannon Mangini and Caroline McTiernan each scored two goals. Jaimie Morrison led Yorktown (20-1) with three goals and one assist.

Guilderland led 9-7 with 6:44 to go, but Farmingdale got goals from Kelly McPartland at 5:25 and Melanie Raso at 0:59 to start the comeback. Farmingdale wins its first ever state championship.

She also went 3-for-4 at the plate, with a single, double and triple.
