Jim Baechtold, the second overall pick in the 1952 NBA Draft, was traded from the Baltimore Bullets to the Knicks prior to the 1953-54 season.

Baechtold spent his final four NBA seasons with the Knicks. He averaged a career-high 13.9 points per game and shot 82.3 percent from the free-throw line (fifth in the league) during the 1954-55 season.

Famous for his jump shot -- he was one of the first NBA players to master one -- Baechtold was forced to retire at 29 due to a knee injury.
