Davis was one of the league's best outside shooters while with the Knicks. He finished in the top 10 in the league in three-point percentage in three of his four seasons with the team, including fourth place during the 1994-95 season (.455) and third place the following year (.476).

The shooting guard also made an impact during the 1993-94 playoffs, hitting the winning free throws in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Chicago Bulls. The Knicks went on to win the series in seven games. New York then eliminated the Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals before falling to the Rockets in the NBA Finals in seven games.

Davis was traded to the Toronto Raptors before the 1996-97 season.
