One of the best college players in the country at Duke, Art Heyman was drafted No. 1 overall by the Knicks first in 1963.

Heyman immediately became one of the Knicks' best scoring threats. He averaged 15.4 points in 29.8 minutes his rookie season, earning a spot on the NBA All-Rookie first team. The Knicks finished 22-58, though, just one win better than the previous season.

In a 2006 interview, Heyman said he "didn't care anymore" after his rookie season. His apathy showed, as Heyman's minutes were severely cut, and he averaged just 5.7 points per game.

Heyman was placed on waivers by the Knicks in October 1965, and eventually claimed by the San Francisco Warriors.
