Community Profile
Lindenhurst, stretching from the Great South Bay to north of Sunrise Highway (Route 27), comprises an incorporated village and an unincorporated area. Both offer recreational spots, shops, services and restaurants.
Homes are priced from $237,000 to $999,000, says Frank DellAccio, owner-broker of Century 21 AA Realty in Lindenhurst, but those at $365,000 to $425,000 are selling the most. Spot-built homes - mostly Colonials (up to 3,000 square feet) in North Lindenhurst - are priced in the mid- to upper $500,000 range.
Neighborhoods outside the village include Venetian Shores. A park of the same name offers athletic fields, a spray park, fishing pier, beach and boat launch. American Venice, patterned after the original about 70 years ago, has small bridges and canals. Students in this area attend Copiague schools.
A business improvement district was created in March to attract new businesses, refurbish facades and reinvigorate commercial areas.
