Community Profile
Widely known as home of the Internal Revenue Service's Northeast processing center, Holtsville is a sprawling hamlet that has pockets of industry, shopping centers, a nursing home and rehabilitation center, as well as an array of housing choices.
"There is a little bit of everything," said Christopher Armstrong, owner- broker of Century 21 Princeton Properties in Holbrook.
Housing styles include Colonials, capes, split-levels and various ranches, as well as newly constructed Victorians.
Holtsville also has a gated homeowners association, condos, co- ops and apartment rentals.
Residents can visit the Town of Brookhaven's Ecology Center and Animal Preserve on Buckley Road, where amenities include a three-pool complex, exercise-trail fitness course, zoo and ecology center.
