Community Profile
One of the newest attractions in Coram is Diamonds in the Pines, a town park recently developed with funds provided by Avalon Bay Communities, said Lori Slattery of Coldwell Banker Residential in Port Jefferson Station.
The park, which includes baseball and football fields and playgrounds, is near Avalon Pines at Pine Road and Route 83. The new luxury rental community, where amenities include a club house and public golf course, offers one- to two-bedroom apartments and town houses, priced from $1,533 a month to $2,240 a month, according to avalonpines.com.
Kenneth Trestka of ERA/Premier in Coram noted that new construction of single-family homes has slowed, but a few continue to come on the market.
Homes in this sprawling hamlet, where capes, Colonials and ranches dominate the occasionally hilly landscape, are usually priced from $325,000 to $550,000, Slattery said. Buyers can also find contemporaries and Victorians, as well as some condos, co-ops and rentals for the 55 and older population.
Shops, services and eateries can be found along Middle Country Road and Route 112. Coram's location makes for easy travel to nearby attractions, including Port Jefferson Village and the Tanger Outlet Center in Riverhead.
