Widely known as the home of Eisenhower Park, East Meadow also houses the 19-story Dynamic Care building of the Nassau University Medical Center, as well as an abundance of eateries and retailers.
Many of the hamlet's serene neighborhoods are lined by quaint street signs and canopied by mature trees. Capes, ranches and split-levels dominate, although buyers also can find some Colonials and a limited number of condos and co-ops.
Senior housing includes The Knolls and The Knolls of East Meadow IV on Salisbury Park Drive, which is operated by the Town of Hempstead Housing Authority. The Bristal Assisted Living at East Meadow is on Merrick Avenue.
Today, the 930-acre Eisenhower Park is a mecca of year-round recreation. The park is also the site of the Nassau County September 11 Memorial, honoring nearly 300 people with ties to Nassau County who died in the World Trade Center attack. President George W. Bush participated in its grounbreaking ceremony.
Senator Speno Memorial Park on East Meadow Avenue and Veterans Memorial Park (which has a pool) on Prospect Avenue also offer an array of activities.
